Osteopathy is a non-invasive, holistic medicine based on the art of evaluating and manually treating restricted movement in the body, which can give rise to functional disorders affecting the general health of an individual. It is a preventative and curative form of therapy with the goal of treating the cause rather than only the symptom of the problem. Osteopaths view an individual as one whole unit, as each system of the body is interconnected (musculoskeletal, visceral, nervous system, circulatory, lymphatic, etc). If one part or system of the body is restricted, the rest must compensate and adapt, which can lead to different health conditions. Minimizing these restrictions provides the opportunity for the body to heal itself.

I give much credit to my yoga practice and training in Thai yoga massage for furthering my passion for the body, both by becoming in tune with my own, and by encouraging me to want to help others. I find great pleasure in my practice, as it is continuously stimulating me to acquire new knowledge, and prepares me to respond to the needs of a diverse clientele. As I provide treatment, which involves fine tuning the body through refined palpation skills, I find it of great importance to inform and instruct my patients in ways to complement the treatment with exercises, nutrition, advice, stress release techniques, etc. In order to fully meet the client’s needs, I respect the importance of knowing when to refer to another appropriate health professional. My experience during a humanitarian mission in osteopathy in Peru (2011) opened my mind to the methods of treatment, which helped me to develop my intuition, palpation, and the ability to adjust my treatments according to the specific needs of each unique individual. I started my Osteopathy practice in Montreal in 2012, and followed my dreams to the west in January 2015, unexpectedly landing in Nelson, BC where I initially practiced at the Heritage Health Centre, and have now continued with my private home practice.
